Sitting all day? These subtle stretches can help relieve tension without drawing attention from your coworkers:
Neck Rolls
Gently drop your chin to your chest, then slowly roll your head from side to side. Hold for 5 seconds on each side.
Shoulder Shrugs
Lift both shoulders up toward your ears, hold for 3 seconds, then release. Repeat 5 times.
Seated Spinal Twist
Sit up straight, place your right hand on the back of your chair, and gently twist your torso to the right. Hold for 15 seconds, then switch sides.
Ankle Circles
Lift one foot slightly off the ground and rotate your ankle clockwise, then counterclockwise. Switch feet.
Wrist Stretches
Extend one arm forward, gently pull your fingers back with the other hand, then pull them down. Hold each position for 10 seconds.
Seated Figure-4
Cross one ankle over the opposite knee and gently lean forward for a hip stretch. Hold for 20 seconds per side.
Try to do these every hour or so. Your body (and your focus) will thank you!
Remember: These shouldn’t cause pain. If something hurts, ease up or skip that stretch.
